Generally, women in villages, towns or small towns have the option of going to the second largest city for income. It is easy for men to do this but it is not possible for women, it is not necessary. In such a situation, the Common Service Center (CSC) can be a good option for them through which women can earn a fixed amount every month living in their own town or village.

What is the Common Service Center (CSC)?

Under the National e-Governance Plan, the government wants to provide all government services at affordable rates. The Common Service Centers (CSCs) are to be opened by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology across the country. In a CSC, public, private and social sectors such as telecom, agriculture, health, education, entertainment, FMCG products, banking and financial services, all types of certificates, applications and utility bills can be made. Government plans to have more than 300 surveys in a CSC in the coming days.

The government had set a target in 2016 than 1.6 lakh new CSCs would be opened across the country. Only 2 to 2.5 lakh rupees can be earned on CSC and up to 15 to 20 thousand rupees can be made. At the same time, the government has also increased the option of selling the product at the CSC.

Who can open CSC?

  • You must be above 18 years of age to open a CSC in a village.
  • You may have to make an investment of between 2 and 2.5 lakh rupees.
  • You must have read at least till the 10th.
  • It is important to have knowledge of basic English and local dialects. In such low studies, CSC can prove to be a good way of earning income for women living in the village.
  • You have a minimum of 100 to 150 sq ft space.
  • There should be at least one computer (with UPS), a printer, digital/webcam or inverter or solar panel, operating system and application software, broadband connection.
