The Central Government has started a new pilot project for the convenience of its retired employees. Under this project, now retired employees will not have to resort to banks to deposit their digital life certificates to get a pension. Life certificates are being collected from home to pensioners under this project. Under the project, life certificates were received from the homes of 2480 old pensioners till December last year.
All pensioners have to submit their life certificates in banks or treasury every year in November-December.
This pilot project is running in Delhi-Noida, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Mumbai, Mysore, Vadodara, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru. This project is planned to expand to 20 cities this year. The cities which are to be expanded in this project are Hyderabad, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Thrissur, Kolkata, Cuttack, Chennai, Guwahati, Madurai, Balasore, Jalandhar, Ahmedabad, Allahabad and Pune.
Helpline for pensioners
The Central Government has started a toll-free helpline to solve the problems of pensioners. Now retired employees of Central Government, Union Territories and Delhi Police Administration can register their problems through a call on Tollfree no 1800-11-1960.
